Shop Your Stash: Creating with What You Have
There comes a moment in every creative season when we have to pause and ask ourselves a simple question:
What do I already have that can work beautifully right now?
On November 11, we gathered live for a Shop Your Stash creative session, one that focused on celebrating Create 2025 while giving ourselves permission to use what we already own. This was an at-home live, with everyone creating from their own space, easing into creativity without pressure or perfection.
Why “Shop Your Stash” Matters
Beautiful paper collections can feel intimidating.
Some papers are so gorgeous that cutting into them feels almost impossible. Jasmine was one of those collections for me. It took me months before I could finally bring myself to use it.
This live was about releasing that hesitation and remembering that creativity is meant to be enjoyed, not preserved untouched forever.
And if Jasmine still felt too precious to cut, that was okay too.
About the Live
This session focused on creating a scrapbook page inspired by Jasmine, without requiring Jasmine itself.
We explored how to substitute papers, dies, and embellishments using deep jewel tones, Moroccan-inspired patterns, rich textures, and dramatic color palettes that many of us already have tucked away in our stash.
Substituting with Confidence
One of the biggest takeaways from this live was realizing how many options we already own.
Deep blues, emerald greens, rich plums, gold accents, damasks, bold florals, and geometric prints can all capture the essence of Jasmine without using the paper itself.
This approach removes fear and replaces it with freedom. It reminds us that inspiration doesn’t live in one collection, it lives in how we combine what we already have.
Creativity Without Pressure
This live was not about following rules.
It was about experimenting, adapting, and trusting your eye. About learning to see your stash differently and giving yourself permission to play.
When we shop our stash, we create space for confidence. We stop comparing and start creating.
A Perfect Lead-In to Create
This session came at exactly the right time, just before Create began.
It was a reminder that you don’t need anything new to participate fully. You simply need curiosity, willingness, and the courage to cut the paper when the time feels right.
And if it takes a little while longer, that’s okay too.
