My First Planner: A New Way to Document Life
There are moments in a creative journey when curiosity taps you on the shoulder.
That’s exactly what happened for me on December 15, when I sat down for my very first planner unboxing. This live marked the beginning of something new for me, exploring planning as another way to document life, reflect on seasons, and create with intention.
This wasn’t about abandoning scrapbooking or paper crafting. It was about expanding the way I tell my story.
Why Try a Planner Now
As we approach the end of the year, reflection naturally turns into planning.
I’ve spent years documenting memories after they happen, preserving moments through layouts, mini books, and creative projects. Planning felt like the next logical step, a way to be more intentional about how I move through the days ahead, not just how I remember them later.
Planning, at its heart, is another form of memory keeping.
About the Live
This was an at-home, relaxed unboxing and conversation, filled with curiosity, honesty, and no pressure to “get it right.”
In this session, I shared:
- My first impressions of the MakseLife planner
- Why I chose it for 2026
- How planning fits into a creative life
- Thoughts on blending planning with memory keeping
This wasn’t about expertise. It was about beginning.
A Different Kind of Creativity
Planning is a different lane of creativity.
It’s quieter. More intentional. Less about embellishment and more about clarity. For someone who loves paper, structure, and reflection, it felt surprisingly natural.
This planner isn’t about filling every space or decorating every page. It’s about creating room for focus, goals, and gentle accountability, all while still honoring creativity.
Planning and Paper Crafting Can Coexist
If you’ve never considered planning before, or if you’ve felt hesitant because it seems “too structured,” this is your permission to explore without pressure.
Planning doesn’t replace scrapbooking.
It supports it.
When we plan with intention, we create better moments to document later. The two work beautifully together.
An Invitation to Try Something New
This live wasn’t about telling anyone what they should use.
It was simply an invitation.
If you’ve been curious about planning, goal setting, or creating a little more structure for the year ahead, this is a gentle place to start. And if planning isn’t for you, that’s okay too. Creativity has many forms.
What matters most is choosing tools that support the life you want to live.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As 2025 winds down, this planner feels like a bridge between reflection and intention.
I’m excited to see how planning becomes part of my creative routine, and I look forward to sharing that journey honestly, learning as I go.
Thank you for being part of this new beginning.
With gratitude,
Martha
